Alumni Speak May 2016: Edutainment

May

Speakers: Kendrick Tilman, Five Star Enterprise

Industry: Edutainment

Brief Bio:

Five Star outreach focuses on community outreach, educational services and community engagement. His inspiration stemmed from first being a participant for the PACE summer bridge program hosted at Morgan State University to later serving as director of the program in 2002. In 2007 he was offered an opportunity to teach a class but it was up to him to create the class to teach. He took full advantage of this opportunity by intertwining his skills as a disc jockey and his knowledge of technology to somehow create a class where students can learn from this new teaching method. Tilman then launched a pilot program at Morgan State that incorporates edutainment into STEM. Five star entertainment is a result of this passion that started in the classroom at Morgan State University; in 2010 his vision became reality.
